We are looking for someone who can be our main back-end developer for Ivy Engine, a platform for mobile content experiences. Ivy is a very flexible product and our main clients vary from publishers to newspapers to big corporations in need of an internal app for communicating with employees. Read more about Ivy on ivyengine.com.
Most of Ivy Server’s code base is written in Ruby, but going forward Kotlin is our language of choice. We know this is a bold move and choosing technology is as much about the team behind as it is about the technology itself. This way we (and you) can be sure to be situated in a vibrant and growing professional community of Kotlin developers in Agens.
We don’t want to be too specific about our needs as we have a very adaptive and collaborative team and we are not hiring you to become a one-man show. You will be a part of a team of experienced developers with different backgrounds, working together to create a product we can be truly proud of. What do you want to learn? How do we shape our team? And what challenges do you want to face?
- Writing new server applications in Kotlin
- Manage our services on Heroku and AWS
- Optimize for efficiency and process lots of data
- Integrate towards third party APIs
- Meet happy clients
- Tighten our security and improve privacy
- Security information and event management (SIEM)
- Automate all the things
- DevOps and tooling
- System architecture

Working at Agens
Tasks involving mobile development for other applications may be a part of the picture – it may come in handy to be familiar with other languages and platforms. Open sourcing your code will also be supported if our projects benefit from it.
You can expect to get every single piece of equipment that you need to do your job. You will get paid to learn new things, and you will be offered a stake in the company.
You will be working in our beautiful, newly renovated headquarters in Oslo. We expect you to be fluent in English. Whilst our main working language is Norwegian, a growing number of our projects are with international clients that require communication in English.
As an employee at Agens you will have the opportunity to work with both client projects and our own ventures. And when you get an idea for a cool new product, you will be able to get the resources to try it out. We encourage you to open-source your code when this can benefit our projects.
